Dr Jodie Low Choy

I grew up in Darwin. As a child, I was always rescuing animals and I wanted to be a Veterinarian. When I was 10, I found my first pet dog, Oscar (a red heeler x border collie) at the Rapid Creek Markets. He was just a 6 wo puppy and the sign said “Giving away for free or will be drowned”. My Father couldn’t deny my persistent pleading and he came home with us. Oscar was my best buddy and we explored East Point, the beach and the neighbourhood together. Other hobbies included birdwatching and being in nature.

I graduated from Murdoch University, WA with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in 1991 and I returned to Darwin to practise. I have had a varied career as a Veterinarian, starting in small animal practice, then researching Melioidosis in animals in the Northern Territory, then working at The Territory Wildlife Park for 10 years.

Married with 2 young children, I returned to small animal practice in 2008. I completed a Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture through IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) in 2011. Performing Acupuncture on animals opened my eyes to a different approach to Veterinary Medicine. I have since taken various courses in Chinese and Western Herbal Medicine.

I started my own Mobile Veterinary Practice (Vet 2 Pet Mobile Veterinary Services) in 2016 to focus on a more holistic & integrative approach outside of a clinic setting. It has also enabled me to develop a closer relationship with the pets I treat and they are also more relaxed in their home environment. In more recent years, I have developed a special interest in pain and mobility. I achieved Certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2023.

My focus is to enhance wellbeing and treat illnesses & conditions using various natural therapies like Acupuncture, Chinese & Western Herbs, Diet & Supplements and Rehabilitation along with conventional Veterinary Medical practices.
